The Event

What is Pushed to the Limits 99,000 steps?

Pushed to the Limits 99,000 steps is a week-long step fundraising event for Together for Short Lives’ national corporate partners. Participants will complete 99,000 steps during Children’s Hospice Week 2021 and raise vital funds to support children’s hospice services across the UK.

Why 99,000 steps?

The number of steps represents the number of children in the UK living with life-limiting conditions. There are 99,000 children in the UK living with life-limiting conditions - every day their families are pushed to their limits. We push ourselves to our limits, to ensure that the hospices that support these children are not pushed to theirs.

Where does it take place?

Everywhere! We will have participants taking part throughout the week across the UK and we have designed this challenge so you can achieve your steps as part of your daily life – at work, at home, at the shops, walking the dog – anywhere you like!

How do I create a team?

There are a few ways to create a team. The most straightforward is to choose a team captain, who is responsible for adding the team to the platform. Once they’ve registered themselves, they can create a team page and invite team members. All the team captain needs is the team name, and team members’ email addresses. Once you’ve set up the page, you can invite others to join your team by sharing via email, or social media. We are suggesting a team default fundraising target as £100 per person so for example £500 for a group of five.

Is there an entry fee?

Yes, we are asking for a £10 registration fee which will go towards supporting children’s hospice services across the UK.

Can my team / company win?

Everyone will be completing the same number of steps, but there will be a leader board on the Pushed to the Limits page which will be updated based on fundraising totals. Make sure you keep checking to see where your team / organisation is on the leader board!
